Case Study:

Lowering emission in steel plant

Location:

  • CHINA

Operation:

Material storage

Dust type:

Material for smelt iron, sintering of pillets

Problem:

The overall steel group is focusing on lowering emission.

Emission was above 20mg/m3. Had to be lowered due to authority requirement. Goal: Below 8mg/m3.

Solution:

Replacing bags with pleated bags. Installed August 2017.

M² in each bag/cartridge  2,45 3,84
M² in unit  3.450 5.406

Advantages:

  • Less wear of the filter media due to larger dropout box (3,9m shorter filter) = "Gravity-filtration" separates the larger dust particles.
  • Lower dP.
  • Lower emission than with conventional filter bags. Goal: Below 8mg/m3. After 5 month of operation: 0.6mg/m3.
