Case Study:
Lowering emission in steel plant
Location:
- CHINA
Operation:
Material storage
Dust type:
Material for smelt iron, sintering of pillets
Problem:
The overall steel group is focusing on lowering emission.
Emission was above 20mg/m3. Had to be lowered due to authority requirement. Goal: Below 8mg/m3.
Solution:
Replacing bags with pleated bags. Installed August 2017.

BEFORE | AFTER | |
Bag filter | Pleated bag solution
Airflow in unit | 210.000 m³/hour
Dusttype | Material for smelt iron
Collector running hours/year | 8.000
Filter model | Filter bag | CPB130 |
Media/cloth type | Polyester w. ePTFE membrane | Spun bond pleatable polyester |
Length | 6.000 | 2.070 |
Number of bags/cartridges | 1.408 | 1.408 |
M² in each bag/cartridge | 2,45 | 3,84 |
M² in unit | 3.450 | 5.406 |
Advantages:
- Less wear of the filter media due to larger dropout box (3,9m shorter filter) = "Gravity-filtration" separates the larger dust particles.
- Lower dP.
- Lower emission than with conventional filter bags. Goal: Below 8mg/m3. After 5 month of operation: 0.6mg/m3.
